Boss Lady is a company formed by first generation females who are passionate and driven in their professional field and wanted to create a product where other females and themselves have a chance to take some ME-TIME to re-group, re-set and remind yourself what is important to you. We wanted to also provide a safe space for growth and supporting all women, in any stage of their life, on how to navigate work but not lose their voice.
Cindy and Valeria meet while working together in 2018. After a hard day’s work, both of them still wanted to hang out and enjoy each other’s company. Valeria was always eager to learn and grow and Cindy loved to teach. You can say it was meant to be for both of them to find each other. Both felt that there lacked a space for them to get creative and wanted to create a space where women could continue to learn.
Cindy Poliah is one out of 3 kids (all girls). She is also the first generation to be born in the USA. Her family is from the Caribbean where women were typically raised to be good house wives. Cindy was taught at an early age by her mother that knowledge was power and an education was the best path for a bright future. She was the first one in her immediate family to graduate college. When her dad passed in 2021, Cindy felt the need to not sit idly by while she worked her 9am-9pm job. Cindy is a firm believer in trying new things, exploring and always believed in giving women she worked with an opportunity to grow.
Valeria is the older of 6 siblings. She is a Venezuelan with Colombian roots, and was raised to be the example for her younger siblings. She moved to the USA when she was only 18 years old. She was on her own in a new country, however through her hard work and dedication to providing the best service possible, she now works for one of the most luxurious hotel companies in the world. Valeria continues to push forward and wants to open the door for other young women to get out of their comfort zone and achieve what may seem impossible!
